How The Building Permit Process Works

Our Projects

Initial Consultation & Quote

Our Projects

2

Prepare & Submit Documentation

Get in touch to discuss your project scope, building class, and timeframes. We will provide a fee proposal and outline exactly what documentation will be required before lodgement.

Your builder or designer submits the required plans, engineering reports, energy assessments, and supporting documents. For most projects this includes site plans, floor plans, elevations, and a soil report.

4

Permit Issued

We review all documentation for compliance with the NCC, Building Regulations 2018, and relevant Australian Standards. Where required, plans are referred to Council, fire authorities, or other reporting bodies.

Once all documentation is assessed and approved, the building permit is issued. This authorises work to commence and sets out the mandatory inspection stages that must be completed during construction.

Mandatory Stage Inspections

Our Projects

6

Occupancy Permit or Certificate of Final Inspection

Inspections are carried out at key stages — typically footings, frame, waterproofing, and any other stages specified in the permit. Each stage must be signed off before work can proceed to the next phase.

Once construction is complete and all inspections have passed, an Occupancy Permit (for habitable buildings) or Certificate of Final Inspection is issued — confirming the works are compliant and the building is safe to occupy.
